Petty took on the Ford Army w that smile & electric blue Plymouth & Dodges, 'the poor mans cars' at the time...

Before Petty, there was a guy named 'Fearless Freddy' Lorenzen, & he would win all the superspeedway races in sneaky fashion,

'they' questoned his 'manhood' too, even though he always left w the beauty queen...

& called the races) Booked World of Outlaws Sprint Cars there, along with NDRA event won by Kenny Brightbill. Bill Dollar, Bill Connell & Larry Sprinkle worked for & with me .

Called the first races on Fridays at Tri-County Speedway, Hudson NC & NDRA 1985. Did the last NDRA event ever at Tri-County.

Did weekly shows Fridays at Riverside Speedway Travelers Rest SC with Ronnie Strange and then Lee McAllister, and then I-85 at Greer SC with Ronnie Strange when TCMS went to Saturday nights.

Also worked Anderson Speedway in SC on Fridays plus Daytona Dash and NASCAR Southern Modified events there for the late Rupert & Shirley Porter

Cherokee Speedway Saturdays 1985-1991, combined with BJ Parkers` Southern All Star events at Cherokee & at other tracks.

Helped David Perry develop the ‘Thunder & Lightning’ class at Cherokee. Brought FIRST 4-cylinder cars to Cherokee (7 cars in March, 68 in August)

Charlotte Motor Speedway picked their intro music from my collection. I feel IWAS 'arena music' before anybody knew what it was ! I still kid Humpy about it .

Introduced wrestlers at non -TV events at small arenas for Jim Crocket promotions Mon -Thurs 88-89, ('too tall for TV') still friends with most including Nickla Roberts , ‘ Miss Baby Doll’ and Ricky Morton for possible appearances.


Concieved & booked first Annual Blue Gray 100 at Cherokee Speedway 1991 for Terry Brotherton of Denver and Ernie Elkins of Racing News & Lincolnton. The Blue Gray 100 is the only Annual event that Cherokee has maintained at a high level over the last few years.

Left Cherokee for I-85 Speedway Greer SC 1992-93 for David Perry-Clary Hood-JD Brown $300 per Saturday NOW YOU KNOW

I-85 closed & I went Carolina Speedway for Charles Gunn in Gastonia NC Saturdays 94-96

Ran an all night dance club ‘Good Times’ in Lake Wylie SC 1991-1999 along with weekly track PA work. Carolina Speedway was only 6 miles from club.

Provided seed money for Girl scouts at River Hills Non-Denominational Church. Financed a trip to Australia for a young Chance Beam to play in the World Baseball Games. He is now a High School Coach.. The location of the club made it convenient to work Carolina & Chester Speedways.

2001-2005 was Carolina Speedway Gastonia Fridays Riverside Travelers Rest Saturdays for David Ifft & Curtis Teems.

Successfully changed Riverside headliner class over to GM Performance (crate engines) Late Models and had the highest super late model car count( 51) for an event in SC one year along with a weekly high of 162.

2005 Called the 1st ‘Prelude to The Dream’ w/FASTRAK Champions Series at Tony Stewarts Eldora Speedway with Matt Yoakum on pit road.

(Had 29,000 fans doing the WAVE at 6:30 pm and made the national news)

2006 Carolina Fridays & Cherokee Saturdays (this was my swan song for the weekly shows as work travel would not let me be present when the gates opened)

2006 also saw me at special events at The Dirt Track at LOWES and Tuesday night Hardees Summer Shootout for Legends at LMS with Steve Post & Ozzie Altman.

In 2007 there was FASTRAK, Southern All Stars, Southern all Stars East , 11 Carolina Clash series events.

Promoted a July 27th Percy Sledge Concert in Somerset Kentucky where we outdrew Charlie Daniels Band & Montgomery Gentry.

Resigned at Cleveland County Speedway after turning a profit 3 weeks in a row for the first time in four years with NO budget. (track has no insurance and other no-pay issues)

Promoted PERCY SLEDGE in concert at Eaglenest Theatre in Maggie Valley NC May 23 & 24th. Broyhill Baptist Childrens Homes were allowed to raise money at the concert.


Worked the Ray Cook ‘Southern Nationals’ Series at Wythe Va., Cherokee Speedway , Screven Ga. , & Hartwell Ga.

Returned to Screven Ga. and worked the World of Outlaws SLM event with Rick Eshelman.

Attended the Hall of Fame event at Cherokee for Wayne Allen, Buck Simmons and CL Pritchett at Cherokee

Hosted the Legends Helping Legends fundraiser for ‘Suitcase’ Jake Elder at Memory Lane Museum in Mooresville NC on Sat March 14 with over 60 NASCAR legends including Bobby Allison and Richard Petty.

Completed the Modoc 100 $10,000 to win for the FASTRAK Series in April 2009, where a contract for the 2009 season was presented to the actual owner of the series

Seems like one of those so called "reality"shows from MTV where they get a lot of folks that don't get along and stir the pot behind the scenes, gets everyone stirred up, then turns on the cameras to see what drama unfolds.

Real World,Jersey Shore,Flavor of Love,Rock of Love and other shows that spotlight human garbage come to mind.

Too bad, because I was kind of expecting more from racers,but it seems the producers chose to follow around the couple of drama queens that know how to trash talk but unfortunately not how to finish the race,and one couldn't even get past the pace laps.

50 minutes of jibber jabber about how if 'so and so' gets near me I'm gonna wreck him.
Then 5 minutes of racing action....

Rule # 2 There is a stop line painted on the road for a reason...don't stick the nose of your car passed it then expect me to go into the next lane because you're to stupid to pay attention and not back up.I actually make a game of it, just to see how close I can get.
Rule # 3 When you first go in the mall there are signs that say keep moving,so traffic doesn't back up on the main roads leading TO the mall.The traffic inside the lot has to stop,they planned it that way ,get you in the lot faster,and once your there we don't care how long it takes you to move about.I don't know why it's such a difficult concept for some to wrap their heads around.
Rule # 4 Those signs that say "Do Not Block Intersection",they're there for a reason.If you can't figure out you don't have enough space for your vehicle to make it through maybe someone needs to slap you and take your keys away,leave you laying in the ditch,and call a wrecker to haul off your car to be sold at auction.Proceeds to charity of course.
Rule # 5 HANG UP AND DRIVE...Seems so simple, but I got wheel tracked yesterday at Sam's Club by some pinhead in one of those little scooters because he was blabbing on the phone.Just imagine how disastrous this would have been on the highway.
Ruke # 6 If your turn signals don't work...get them fixed,its probably just a burned out bulb.If its anything more check into your warranty,it might be covered.This is assuming that you didn't signal in the first place,I know you not THAT ignorant.

My dad started racing right around the time I was born in 1991. He raced in the super street class at Friendship Speedway. ... I was born into racing. He never really had the funds to be competitive as a young man who had just started a family. When I was three my sister was born and he hung up the helmet to spend more time with us. Though he stopped racing, we were always at the track watching as I was growing up. When I was about ten, a close friend of ours offered him an opportunity to drive again in a stock four car. I remember the only win he ever got and I was the happiest kid in the world at that moment. A year or two later, Friendship was paved and we never really went to races at that track after that. I was heartbroken that my hometrack was no longer dirt, but racing still burned in me like an inferno. We began to travel to Wythe raceway to watch, but we couldn't go as often because of the distance and it never really felt like home. A few years ago Rolling Thunder Raceway opened about 15 minutes from my home and I was like a kid in a candy store. I had just gotten my license and had to leave the first practice early because I hadn't got my after 9 privelages yet. The year after RTR opened, I got the best news in a long time. Friendship was going back to dirt. That march of 2008, my prayers were answered. One night while out coon hunting I was annoying my dad about racing again and he acted kind of tired of my questions. I asked him if he didn't want me to race. His reply was, "No, I don't want you to spend all your money on that like I did." The most awkward thing in my life happened next. After a long pause and being scared to death of disappointing my dad I said, "Well I understand that you don't want me too, but I am going to race with or without your support." I have never disrespected my dad before, and it made me feel awful. A few nights later we were sitting in our living room and he said he wanted to go see a friend of his so we rode out to our buddy Terry's place. He had this rough old Camaro that we were looking at and my dad asked him what he would take for it. My dad looked at me and said he would by the car for the $50 if I could find a way to get it home. I thought I was gonna pass out from the excitement. It has taken us almost two years to get this car together, but I ran my first race on November 28, 2009 at Friendship.
